What else? He's from Japan. He lived in L.A. for a while, playing all sorts of god-forsaken gigs. Jazz, fusion, Latin. Finally got the sense to move to NY. Very luckily, Joel was tipped off to this and snatched him up before everyone else had, which they would have, because, like I said above, he's a really good bass player. People tend to offer heart-felt exclamations of a positive nature when they hear him. One guy said he wanted to have Toshi's child. Toshi is thinking this over.
