Guitars: my Gibson ES 335 Dot re-issue. Main guitar these days. Me likey.
It's a very versatile guitar, bridging the jazz/rock divide nicely.
I also have a 70's Gibson 325 with no fretts that's kind of fun.
Finally, an Ibanez RG1570 (kind of a hard-rock guitar, but I love the
long, slim neck and the whammy bar/floating bridge/lock-nut system).
Amps: My two new/old mesa boogie amps: Mark I (1978) and Mark IIB (1981).
Some pugnacious, feisty little bastards they are.
I'm exploring the stereo thing. I haven't used tube amps much til recently. Lot's of
work getting used to it, but I'm excited. Until recently I played an Ibanez strat
copy through a Roland VG-8 (the first of the line-6-type sound modelers, plus
various synth type sounds), through various solid state amps. Actually, a very
versatile and satisfying rig, but I started craving the "real thing." The VG-8
sounds
decent through a Roland Jazz Chorus, and really good through 2 (in stereo)
Tech 21 PowerAmp 60's (clear, physically light, "PA" type amp, with no pre-amp).
Finally, I played the ES 335 for a year or so through a cheap Hartke 85 watt
bass amp, and it actually sounded really good.
Effects: my current setup, which affords me a lot of tonal and
textural variation, is:
Boss or Ernie Ball Volume pedal;
Proco Rat Distortion (for light overdrive/beefing up mostly);
Boss Super Overdrive (for occasional heavier distortion);
old Ibanez/Boss CE-5 chorus pedals;
Boss RV-3 Reverb/Delay (mostly for delay);
Lexicon LXP-1 for reverb.
----------
I usually play blindfolded with my teeth.
Other gear:
I use an American Standard toilet (1985).
Johnson and Johnson dental floss, unwaxed.
Sears hardware (screwdriver, hammer, wrench, etc).
Iams catfood (adult, weight control) for our cat.
Wastebasket from Hold Everything (stained brown whicker).
